MISSION Statement |
|
We, the members of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Islip, New York, witness and respond to Christ's love and forgiveness by grace alone, through faith alone, as taught in scripture alone. Recognizing ourselves to be God's agents, empowered and activated by the Holy Spirit, we then go forth into the world and joyfully proclaim the Gospel message so that the lost may be found and we may glorify Him as Lord and Savior of the world. We confess a common faith to each other and to the world; we teach each other with His word; we bring comfort to those in need in our congregation, community, nation and the world; we give of our time, talents, and treasures cheerfully and sacrificially, out of love for our Lord and Savior of the world. Ever mindful of our sinful nature, and that the consequences of sin is death we baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit that all may be born again in Christ. Through Baptism we become partakers of His glorious kingdom and are made fellow disciples of Christ. Through the sacrament of Holy Communion we are nurtured and strengthened to faithfully serve our forgiving Lord. As part of the unity of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, with the gifts God has given us, we train Pastors, Teachers and other workers for God's mission, develop programs and materials for congregations and schools, equip and send missionaries to other cultures and peoples, and establish new congregations. Joining hands with other church denominations, we address critical issues that affect our community, nation and world. This we do to the Glory of God. |
