Luther’s Small Catechism and Explanation
In class we use the catechism from time to time.
A catechism is book of instruction, usally in the form of questions and answers.
Luther’s Catechism is brief teaching tool written by Dr. Martin Luther in 1529. It was actually desinged for families to share togehter at home to empasize the basic teachings of the Christian faith, in a simple way.
In sums up Christian teaching by dividing it into the following:
The Ten Commandments
The Lord’s Prayer
The Sacrament of Holy Baptism
The Sacrament of the Altar (Holy Communion)
All of the parts of the catechism are taken from the Bible.
Also included here is the “Explanation of the Small Catechism.” which includes the questions sometimes used in the makeup work.
